At Entech, success isn’t only about building extraordinary projects, it’s about how every moving piece comes together behind the scenes. That’s where operations play a vital role. From aligning schedules and managing resources to ensuring smooth communication across departments, operations is the heartbeat that keeps Entech running strong.

This month, Entech: In the Spotlight highlights our Operations & Coordination capability and features Ian Gaines, Director of Operations, who helps bridge the gap between engineering, production, leadership, quality assurance and control, as well as building on client relationships throughout the project(s). His work ensures that Entech’s “small but mighty” team operates with efficiency, clarity, and unity.

Capability Spotlight: Operations & Coordination at Entech

What We Do Best

Operations at Entech is all about orchestration. It ensures that big-picture strategy connects seamlessly to the details of daily execution. Our operations capability focuses on:

  • Schedule Management – Balancing deadlines across engineering, fabrication, and installation to keep projects on track.

  • Resource Allocation – Coordinating labor, materials, and budgets so that every team has what they need when they need it.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration – Serving as the connective tissue between engineering, production, estimating, and business development to ensure goals and communication stay aligned.

  • Problem-Solving in Real Time – Anticipating bottlenecks, addressing challenges, and keeping workflows moving smoothly

The Process

  • Planning – Reviewing project schedules, workload, and department priorities.

  • Coordination – Meeting regularly with managers across engineering, production, estimating, and BD to ensure alignment.

  • Execution – Overseeing daily operations, adjusting plans as needed, and keeping leadership informed.

  • Continuous Improvement – Gathering feedback from teams to refine processes and improve efficiency.

What sets Entech apart is how nimble our operations are. With a lean but highly skilled team, operations ensures that collaboration - not bureaucracy - drives results.

Ian Gaines plays a pivotal role in ensuring each project runs smoothly and efficiently from concept through completion.

When Ian first joined Entech, he was immediately drawn to the company’s unique mix of creativity, precision, and collaboration. “What initially drew me to Entech was the company’s blend of creativity and engineering excellence,” Ian shared. “The team doesn’t see challenges as barriers - they see opportunities to design imaginative, technically sound solutions.”

That mindset mirrored Ian’s own leadership philosophy. He quickly became a driving force in optimizing internal systems and aligning resources across departments. Over time, his role evolved from improving day-to-day processes to overseeing long-term strategy, mentorship, and cross-department coordination. Ian reflects “My role has grown to include capacity planning and aligning operational goals with Entech’s larger creative and business objectives,” he explained. “That evolution mirrors Entech’s own growth - tackling bigger projects while maintaining the collaboration and craftsmanship that define who we are.”

Ian thrives in Entech’s “small but mighty” environment, where impact is immediate and teamwork is everything. “In a lean, highly capable group, every individual’s contribution truly matters,” he said. “There’s a shared ownership and pride you don’t always find in larger organizations.” That spirit of collaboration has shaped how Entech approaches coordination company-wide. Ian recalls a complex custom installation that demanded precise teamwork between design, engineering, and fabrication.  “We brought everyone together for integrated meetings - engineers, designers, project managers, fabricators,” he recalled. “That open communication helped us identify challenges early, adjust quickly, and deliver on time while maintaining the artistic vision.”

Outside of work, Ian enjoys spending time outdoors, fishing, helping coach his son’s team, and taking on creative hands-on projects.

“There’s something really satisfying about taking an idea and bringing it to life,” he said. “It’s probably why I enjoy what we do at Entech so much - it’s that same creative spark.”

Operations are what keeps Entech’s creativity moving forward - connecting departments, streamlining communication, and ensuring every project runs efficiently from planning to installation. Under the leadership of Director of Operations Ian Gaines, this capability continues to strengthen the company’s foundation, fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence at every level. Stay tuned for next month’s Entech: In the Spotlight, where we’ll highlight another vital capability and the team members help push Entech’s innovation forward.
